We have recently restructured the membership facility on our web site. The membership section allows you to check your membership status online, apply for membership online, receive an electronic invoice and update your details online. We urge you though to be patient with us while we update our database. Your details might not be on the database as we are in the process of updating our records. You will receive an email confirmation containing your membership number and your password over the next few days. Please keep these safe!!

However, should you forget your membership number and or your password, you can now request these login details online and these will be emailed to you. When requesting the login details you will need to submit the email address you supplied when you applied for membership.

The membership section can be accessed through the MEMBERSHIP link on the navigation panel. This panel is on the left of the screen. Once you have obtained your login details via email, you can use these to login and update your details. You can also send us your comments and suggestions, view comments from other members and access event information. Also, as we add more functionality, some of the site functions might not be fully functional. From the 1st July 2008, all site functionality will be fully functional with all the membership records up to date and accurate. Once again we urge you to be patient with us during this process.

Andiswa Ndoni has been appointed president of the Black Lawyers’ Association (BLA), the first woman to hold the title, the association announced on Wednesday.

Ndoni has been a member of the BLA’s national executive committee for six years and, the association said, has worked in training and capacity building for black lawyers.

She founded the Practical Law School in East London and headed the BLA’s legal education centre.

She was recently also appointed to the executive of Teba Bank.

The association’s objectives include increasing the number of black lawyers, providing continuing legal education and services to the black community and to expose black lawyers to areas of law from which they were previously excluded. - Sapa
