Durban Commercial Law Programme
Date for collection of course materials:  20 & 21 May 2010
Venue for collection is 35 Samora Machel Street, Durban

The BLA – LEC has been conducting a 13-week course in Commercial Law Practice since 2004.  The classes are conducted from Mondays to Thursdays from 17h30 to 20h00.

To date we have trained over 479 attorneys since inception in 2004.  In 2010 the course will be held in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and the Eastern Cape.

Topics to be covered include:

• Purchase and Sale Agreements.
• Drafting of Contracts.
• Specific contracts such as Financial Agreements and Structures, Shareholders’ Agreements, Agency, Distributor, Licensing and Franchise Agreements.
• Specific transactions such as Joint Ventures, Initial Public Offerings and Stock Exchange Listing, Mergers and Acquisitions, Project Finance and Public Private Partnerships.
• Dispute Resolution.

In the event you are interested in this course, kindly note the following:

• You will need to have a law degree.
• You need to have 2 years experience in practice.
• You will need to submit your application letter and your CV, indicating whether you are in Cape Town or Johannesburg or Durban.
• Preference will be given to lawyers from historically disadvantaged backgrounds.
• The course is run at no cost to successful applicants.
